Newbury Hotel Boston Wedding Photos: Eliza & Gregg
My very first Newbury Hotel Boston wedding, and what an absolutely beautiful day celebrating Eliza and Gregg!
Eliza and I have been in touch for several years; she originally found my wedding photos on Instagram, long before she and Gregg got engaged, and she actually became a customer of my pottery side business before becoming a treasured wedding client! Once Gregg had proposed, she reached out and we started chatting wedding venues - and I recommended several of the vendors she ended up working with, including Nicole Simeral of Simeral & Co (an amazing planner!) and Chris at ARA Wedding Films for video (I absolutely LOVE working with Chris because we share such a similar vision for the documentation of the day). What a treat to have such a long term relationship with this absolutely beautiful person, and I was so happy when her wedding date finally came around. I was also absolutely dying to meet Gregg!
Gregg is English, but has lived in Austin, TX for quite some time, and that's where he met Eliza. It was lovely being surrounded by so many fellow Brits at this wedding, and it was endlessly fascinating to me seeing the differences between the cultures in action throughout the day, but also how beautifully they melded by the end of the evening.
Gregg and Eliza had their first look at my very favorite spot in the Boston Public Garden, then after some family and wedding party portraits we went straight into the ketubah signing. The gorgeous ketubah was made by Eliza's mom, an incredible artist (her main medium is actually ceramic sculpture). What an amazing heirloom! I really love this part of Jewish weddings, when the two families share an intimate moment together. I especially love the black and white photo of the two moms laughing together.
The ceremony was held in the gorgeous ballroom at the Newbury Boston, which was then flipped during cocktail hour. I really enjoyed photographing in the various cocktail hour spaces - there was a dark and intimate space where they had the bar, contrasted with a light-filled ballroom overlooking the Garden.
The reception looked absolutely gorgeous, with lighting by Suzanne B. Lowell, another favorite of mine, and flowers by Lotus Floral Events. Some of my favorite moments included the first dance dip, a glorious hora (almost always a highlight for me!) and the absolutely wonderful toasts by the two maids of honor and two best men.
The evening ended with a super fun dance floor, with the addition of glow toys. This was the best! Thank you Eliza & Gregg for being such a kind, sweet, thoughtful couple to work with, I absolutely loved documenting your wedding at this gorgeous venue!
