Nantucket Yacht Club Wedding Photos

I find myself on the magical island of Nantucket, MA around once a year for a wedding. It is such a beautiful place to get married, with its weathered shingle architecture, infamous fog and wide open beaches, and of course it is an extra special place for A and her family who spend their summers on-island.

After a magnificent welcome dinner at the Whaling Museum (including the most spectacular sunset viewed from the roof deck) I was pretty excited for the wedding day itself. I started my day at A's parents' home just on the outskirts of town. A had invited her best friends for a luncheon while she and her mom started to get ready. I loved that everyone was involved and animated; there wasn't a cell phone in sight - just a bunch of happy friends enjoying lunch together.

Meanwhile Billy met up with T for some final getting ready photos at an inn in town, and he too had invited his best friends to enjoy a drink with him before heading out.

Their first look - a late but very welcome addition to the day - was held at Washing Pond beach; I usually photograph the first look at fairly close range but I had to include the amazing surroundings this time! A&T's sweet pup Bernard joined them for a few photos right after. Then, we headed into town for a few more photos before A joined her family on the yacht club's launch for a nautical entrance to the ceremony. I was happy to join them for the early part of the ride! Kudos to A for going ahead with the boat ride despite the howling gale!

The main event took place at Nantucket Yacht Club; the ceremony on the lawn overlooking the docks, followed by cocktail hour on the terrace. The ballroom looked absolutely beautiful with classic white and green blooms, candlelight, and some of sweetest, loveliest tablecloths I've seen. After some sunset photos on the docks, A&T set off the cannon then led guests inside for dinner, toasts and dancing.

A couple of favorite moments included the flower girl's utter enthusiasm for her job, continuing well into cocktail hour (I love the photo of the petals flying out over A!) And the quiet moments in the Governors' Room immediately following the ceremony, when A&T FaceTimed T's sister who was unable to make the wedding as she had just given birth! It was so sweet that they included her in their weekend and you can see the joy radiating from T as they are chatting.

Finally, an extra special thanks to A's mom T who was my main point of contact throughout and was just so kind and sweet to me when I arrived on island. She made sure I was well fed throughout my four days on-island - it was so thoughtful of her during such an incredibly busy time and I am beyond grateful!
