Hacienda Acamilpa, Mexico Wedding Photos

This amazing couple planned a spectacular wedding at Hacienda Acamilpa outside Mexico City during a global pandemic, and it was exactly what we all needed - to be transported, literally, to a land far away, when the sun was beaming down, the jacarandas were blooming, and the margaritas were freely flowing. Not to mention the incredible food that is found around every corner.

This amazing venue, hidden among sugar cane fields, was the setting for a weekend full of activities. Immediate family stayed at the hacienda, and guests joined Friday for an afternoon of lawn games and a pool party, followed by a stunning dinner under the stars (photos of this wonderful event coming soon!)

On Saturday, the couple got ready separately in the historic rooms of the hacienda, then had their first look on one of their favorite spaces on the property, a beautiful and secluded balcony overlooking a courtyard and surrounded by foliage. We took a few photos here and on the Juliet balcony, then invited the wedding party to join for some fun group photos. Family photos were taken in the lush main courtyard, in the shade (it was a balmy 95 degrees in the heat of the afternoon!)

The ceremony was held in the sweet chapel onsite, and guests arrived through the vaults which were lit with candles ... it was magical.

A close friend officiated the ceremony, and readings were given by J's grandmother and T's former nanny. I loved how family - and chosen family - were so involved throughout the day.

Cocktail hour was back in the main courtyard where amuse-bouche size versions of Mexican classics were served alongside a host of delightfully named drinks. Towards the end of cocktail hour, guests descended candlelit steps to the tented reception space, and I grabbed a few final portraits of T&J right at sunset.

This was my first time photographing a wedding reception under a "black tent" and I have to say, it's pretty cool! It makes it truly feel like you're outside, but with the benefit of protection in case of rain. :) The energy at destination weddings is always next level, and apparently the party didn't end until around 4 the next morning ... we snuck out after a little open dancing and before things got too wild!

Huge thanks to J&T for flying me out to Mexico to document their spectacular Hacienda Acamilpa wedding weekend! And special thanks to my dear friend and talented colleague Jenn Tai for being my travel buddy and second photographer extraordinaire! Some of these photos are, naturally, hers. :)
